SERMON BRIEFS FOR November

Sunday, November 7, 2010: All Saints Sunday
Jason Lee Memorial UMC Heritage Sunday

For Love of the Saints, Ephesians 1:11-23 Jason Lee Memorial UMC is celebrating 125 years of being in ministry in Blackfoot, Idaho. We will recognize those saints who have gone before us in faith. Please submit the names of your loved ones who have died this past year to be honored. I would also like to hear from you the stories of some of our saints and how they helped shape our ministry in Blackfoot. Some of our historical artifacts will be on display in the fellowship hall. If you would like to help organize this display, please contact Pastor Gay.

Sunday, November 14, 2010: The Twenty-fifth Sunday after Pentecost

Radical Gratitude, Isaiah 65:17-25, Luke 21:5-19 What are we thankful for? What are we radically grateful for? How does being grateful affect the way we live? We will hear some of your reflections on tithing and giving to the mission, ministry, and maintenance of Jason Lee Memorial UMC. If you have a story to share, please tell us about it on the stewardship form in the fellowship hall.

Sunday, November 21, 2010: Christ the King Sunday

Consecration Sunday

Stewards of the King, Luke 1:68-79, Colossians 1:11-20, Luke 23:33-43 To be a steward of the king was an exalted position, bringing honor as well as great responsibility. To be a steward of King Jesus is as different from stewards of old as Jesus is different from kings of old. We are called to be stewards of King Jesus, and today we will consecrate our commitments of money, time, service, and prayer. The Finance Committee will host a celebration dinner for all following the worship service.

Sunday, November 28, 2010: The First Sunday in Advent

WORSHIP2 at 8:30 a.m. resumes

Expectantly Unexpected, Isaiah 2:1-5, Psalm 122, Romans 13:11-14, Matthew 24:36-44 I know Advent is coming, but it always seems to creep up on me unawares. I know Christ is returning, but I am afraid I may be as unaware of his coming as I am of the beginning of Advent. ÒKeep Awake!Ó Jesus tells his disciples. What does that mean? What are we to do? How are we to keep awake?

WORSHIP2 resumes at 8:30 a.m. today. This 45 minute informal worship service begins with worship music videos before the scripture and sermon, followed by communion and prayer. If you havenÕt experienced it, come try it on for size. It may be just what you need to fill your soul.
